ABOUT US

Company History

Grahame Cowdry set up 3DM Engineering in 1998 after the buy out of Tyrrell Racing by British American Tobacco. Having previously operated the facility for 18 years, Grahame was able to purchase the majority of the machine shop facility which included 4 CNC programmer/operators.

All of our engineers are apprenticeship served and fully qualified engineers. They have the knowledge and the expertise to plan, programme and operate all the machines and equipment we have and can work independently on any task that they are given. Written operating procedures are always provided to ensure that each component can be picked up and executed by any of one our engineers at any given time, meaning that our service is both trustworthy and reliable, with the ability to deliver on repeat orders and components.

We do not have a dedicated inspector as first/off and final inspection is carried out by a different engineer. All are trained to programme and operate  our CMM (coordinate measuring machine). Most of our work is development work, leading to batch production of varying quantities, we feel we have the knowledge and expertise to help our customers, by talking with them at the design stage in order to improve machine cycle times which can lead to reduced cost of final component.
